Images and Dialogue (ID) is a web-based project, focusing on dialogue, communication and intercultural understanding.
School classes in Denmark and the Middle East will work together in communication communities on the Internet.
All communication will be in English, and for security reasons the project will take place within a closed platform. The project is targeted at students between 14 and 18 years of age and deals with the identity of young people in the Middle East and Denmark. Aims The primary aim is that young people from different countries • Get the possibility of starting a dialogue thereby trying out and reflecting their own identity in that of others • Are prepared to their role as active and responsible citizens in the age of globalization • In unison should think of ways that young people from different countries should be able to work together in the future. In connection with the project, the participants must • work with small intercultural exercises as an introduction to the project • watch introductory video clips and comment on these. The video clips will be the starting point for the further work. • individually work out a personal profile, including a presentation of a personal item which they hold important, and they must give reasons why this item is chosen. The item can also be a song, a picture, etc. Furthermore, they must describe what is important in their lives right now as well as their hopes and worries for the future. • in groups work out a presentation of some selected themes. • communicate across borders • in groups, work out visions about the theme they have worked with: what will the status be within this theme in their country when they have children themselves, and how will it influence future co-operation possibilities between the countries. ID was originally a part of the information/education programme of The Images of the Middle East Festival which took place in Denmark in August and September 2006. The festival focused on contemporary culture and the current changes which are taking place in the Middle East. Link to website "Identity in the process of change" was the central theme. The Festival was arranged by DCCD. |
