The objectives of the project are:
This project was promoted by the Finns in 1988 and the work was initiated in 1989. In every country there is a national BSP co-ordinator, and the international co-ordination rotates between the participating countries. Environmental history The quality of the water in the Baltic Sea region The quality of the air in the Baltic Sea region Watercourse in the Baltic Sea region Birds and ecology in the Baltic Sea region Phenological studies Nature Watch The many activities in BSP are described and documented continuously in the Baltic Sea Project Newsletter which is published twice a year. The last publication was in June 2003, the BSP Learners' Guide No. 5: "Baltic 21. An Agenda 21 for the Baltic Sea Region. Education for Sustainable Development." The material has been compiled and edited by Birthe Zimmermann, Amtsgymnasiet (County High School) in Sønderborg and published with the support of the Ministry of Education in Denmark. A sample of the book can be ordered free of charge by sending a stamp-addressed envelope (28 kroner) labelled UNESCO ASP - Baltic 21. |
